eLEC's VoX Communications Expands VoIP Network to 15 Total Major U.S. Markets

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. and CELEBRATION, FL. Sept 13, 2005 – eLEC Communications Corp. (OTCBB:ELEC), a telecommunications company that has provided more than 100,000 clients with telephone service over the past decade, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary VoX Communications, a wholesale and retail provider of residential and business Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services nationwide, has expanded its VoIP network to an additional seven major metropolitan markets in the U.S. - Chicago, North New Jersey, Detroit, Philadelphia, Nashville, Eastern Massachusetts, and Tampa.

These markets are in addition to VoX’s current network reach, which includes metro New York, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Denver, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach. VoX provides local and long-distance VoIP telephone service to broadband/high-speed Internet customers throughout the entire continental United States. Customers in the 15 markets served by VoX’s own network should benefit from improved quality control and VoX’s sharply reduced service cost.

eLEC’s CEO Paul Riss said, “We are excited about expanding our on-net addressable market where we control every component of the VoIP call – from origination to transport, features and termination.”

“We continue to provide VoIP service on a nationwide basis outside our 15-market area, where we utilize services of another carrier for certain components of the call before the call is brought to our platform. We look forward to bringing more key cities on-net, as we prefer the cost savings and control enhancement associated with having customers run their calls entirely on our network,” Riss added.

VoX’s CIO Mark Richards commented, “We continue to execute upon our vision to offer cost-effective, nationwide VoIP service, backed by superior voice quality and features. We offer residential and business clients choice and value at a low, flat monthly rate, and are experiencing strong demand for all of our services – retail, wholesale, residential and business.”

“VoX’s VoIP service is now using our own network in 15 major markets, and we are on target to reach 30 major markets this year. This expansion increases the likelihood that VoX clients will originate and terminate calls “on-net,” thus eliminating costs paid to local telephone companies to terminate calls, which is the highest variable expense.  The cost savings made possible by originating and terminating calls on our own network is one of many ways that VoX drives down its cost of service. Our per-client facility cost, based on VoX’s proprietary softswitch technology, is a fraction of the amount required by most of our competitors to support their customers. This is another important way our cost advantage differentiates VoX within the VoIP industry and assures our ability to provide compelling value to retail and wholesale clients well into the future,” he added.

VoX customers enjoy telephone service with unlimited local and long-distance calling in North America for a flat monthly rate, along with aggressively priced international rates. Customers can keep their existing telephone numbers or select new ones and have all the latest calling features:

  • Voicemail
  • Three-Way Calling
  • Caller ID
  • Call Waiting
  • Call Forwarding
  • Call Return (*69)
  • Call Transfer
  • Call Hold

  • Area Code Selection
